CAPE TOWN: South Africa restricted Pakistan to 218 in the first one-day international at Newlands on Sunday.
Despite a slow but solid start, Pakistan's batting line-up failed to deliver agian as wickets fell at regular intervals never allowing Pakistan to take off.
Anwar Ali was Pakistan's best batsman scoring 43, who was well supported by Bilwal Bhatti with 39, while South Africa's main strike bowlers Dale Steyn (3/33) and Morné Morkel (3/39) were the men behind Pakistan's miseries.
Earlier, Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq won the toss and elected to bat first.
The Proteas boast a strong batting line-up, with Graeme Smith and Jacques Kallis returning to the XI.
South Africa need 219 to win
