Oprah Winfrey is donating 12 million dollars (USD) towards a new museum in Washington DC dedicated to African American history. After previously giving $1m to the National Museum of African American History and Culture, her total contribution is its biggest so far. The museum on Washington's National Mall, which is due to be completed in 2015, will house a 35-seat theatre named after Winfrey.

A group of artists performed in London on Wednesday (June 12) to support "agit8", a music-based campaign calling for action against extreme poverty. Launched by Bono's One Campaign, "agit8" lined up artists to record new versions of famous protest songs, aiming to put pressure on leaders from the world's richest nations attending the G8 summit in Northern Ireland. Some of the performers included Jamie Cullum, who sang a rendition of 1960s song "If I Ruled the World."

A rare 75-year-old comic book featuring the debut of Superman found in a Minnesota home's wall fetched $175,000 at auction. The comic book, Action Comics No. 1 from June 1938 had been estimated to sell for about $100,000 and is one of only about 100 remaining copies of the 250,000 originals. The book's condition was graded 1.5 out of 10 because its back cover was accidentally ripped shortly after it was found. A mint condition copy of the same comic would command about $3 million (USD). A 9.5 graded copy of Action Comics No. 1 sold for $2.16 million in 2011.

The first teaser trailer for "Diana" has been released, showing Naomi Watts in the title role. Directed by Olivier Hirschbiegel, the film focuses on the last two years of Diana's life, including her campaign against land mines and her relationship with heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan. "Diana" will open in U.K. theaters in September. A U.S. release date has not yet been set, but Entertainment One, which acquired the American rights to the film last month, said it's planning one for Fall 2013.
